A unique design partnership
The formation of DSI in 2002 came as a result of the melding of the very unique professional experiences of its two founding partners, Clive Booker and Danette Taylor Brockhouse.
The boutique firm provides full design and project delivery services to select Residential Clients, Hotels and Resorts as well as commercial projects such as Restaurants, Bars and Offices.
Danette Taylor Brockhouse and Clive Booker
Born and raised in England, Clive Booker graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interior Architecture from the University of Kingston Upon Thames, London and where he also received the Royal Society of Arts Award. Whilst working in London, his professional experience included involvement in a variety of different project types throughout Europe notably the design of The London Museum at The Barbican, London as well as the design of the Treasury in St Paul’s Cathedral in preparation for Princess Diana’s and HRH Prince Charles wedding. This early international experience served as a unique foundation for his approach to design and for his ability to relate to the individual needs of each Client and to offer uniquely creative solutions to all.
Danette Taylor Brockhouse graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design and a minor in Art History. Earlier in her career, Danette gained invaluable experience as a Designer working with one of the foremost leading Hospitality Designers in the United States at that time where she worked on prestigious projects such as The Biltmore Hotel, Coral Gables, Florida, The Rittenhouse Hotel in Philadelphia as well as a number of Hyatt Hotels throughout Central and South Florida. Using her Arts History knowledge and background Danette went on to run her own company for ten years providing consultancy services to the Hotel and Hospitality industry prior to teaming up with Clive in 2002. Whilst providing design leadership within DSI on a variety of project types, including all Residential commissions, Danette also oversees the Procurement division within the company.
DSI’s portfolio of work reflects a diverse variety of project types and design styles. It includes private commissions for Residential Clients as well as work for Hotels, Resorts & Lifestyle projects throughout the Southeastern United States & Caribbean. Whilst it is flattering to receive the accolades and recognition on the resulting designs from our peers, what is equally rewarding is the knowledge that each met or exceeded the Clients financial criteria.
Great design really does matter. It enhances our environment and our experiences. We believe it should be authentic, substantive and be able to maintain its relevancy far into the future. It should also create long term benefits to Owners or Developers and Operators that are tangible and real. We also believe that great design does not need to be expensive, either in its process or in the final product that’s delivered and we are as keenly interested in its cost as we are about the design itself and we manage both in ways that create value and efficiencies.
We invite all our Clients to fully participate in the creative and ideas phases so that they in turn join us in taking ownership in the entire design process. This ultimately creates a secure foundation for the development of specific solutions that are unique to their particular needs and that are timeless.
